The PIRIT Heated Hoses solve a myriad set of problems for anyone who needs to deliver water outdoors in below freezing temperatures. I ordered 2 -50 ft heated hoses last season. After a consolidate of weeks, the fitting fell off one so it couldn't be screwed onto the faucet. Clamping wouldn't work. I called Pirit and they sent other which worked for the rest of the season.
This year they had 100 ft hoses and I ordered 2 of those. On the first day that I required heated hoses, one of the 50 ft hoses from last year didn't work (still frozen after being plugged in a long time). On the second day one of the 2 new 100 ft hoses was frozen solid in 18 degree outdoor temp. I left it plugged in 4 hrs but it never unthawed. The second 100 ft hose worked but after being plugged in for 2 hrs. So out of 4 hoses, 2 have failed, one of the new ones after one day. Whether the heating element or thermostat doesn't work. I know my outdoor electrical outlets work because I tested them first. I'm expecting a qoute with the second new hose tomorrow. It would be a great product if it worked. There are obviously some problems with the components or manufacturing because a 50% defective rate in unacceptable. I'd warn whatever to get only one hose and make sure it works for at least a few weeks before getting any more.
